I want to permanently disable the touchpad

on my Acer laptop. I've uninstalled the touchpad under device manager, but it still works! It is extremely distracting when I'm trying to type (I'm a writer) as it moves my cursor several paragraphs from where I'm working, and will delete things, etc., because my thumb brushes it. I NEVER use the touchpad - I hate them, and I want this thing to stop working. How is it even working when I've uninstalled it, supposedly? Please help!

Can you take picture of it? As i remember there should be a slight dent to lock it ( you have to hold it on touchpad).

Likely a keyboard shortcut to disable it as well, but you would probably need to re-install the driver for that. Check the manual.

If you really don't like it, you could always open the laptop and unplug it.

Okay apparently I'm really stupid because I can't get the photo to post here. But the touchpad on this is completely flat - there's no buttons or indentation or anything on it anywhere. I'm kind of a luddite when it comes to technology, even simple stuff.

Do you see any icons on F1-F12 or 1-0 with hand and touchpad with stop sign or an X sign with touchpad icon?
Use Fn and that key.
