I want to upgrade GPU and add more ram to my Sager NP8255 (Clevo P157SM)

I purchased a Sager NP8255 (Clevo P157SM) three years ago.

Current specs:

CPU: 4th Generation Intel® Haswell Core™ i7-4700MQ

GPU: GTX 770M (3.0GB) GDDR5 PCI-Express

Ram: 8GB - DDR3 1600MHz Dual Channel Memory (2 SODIMMS)

Display: 15.6” FHD 16:9 LED Backlit Wide screen (1920x1080)

Hard drive:1TB 5400RPM [SATA II - 3GB/s]

performance expectations: I want to be able to play ARK on medium to high settings with comfortable 60FPS.

I thought about just selling the laptop and getting a new one but since Sager Clevo models are upgrade-able I figure I might as well give it a shot. Anyone tried this yet and how technical it is?

Please don't recommend me getting a desktop because I'm not interested in a desktop at this time due to my current lifestyle.

How technical? Well the entire laptop has to come apart down to the heatsinks so you can remove the GPU.

Eurocom sells upgrade kits for Clevo chassis, yours is included, however, only up to a 980m.

They do take requests though, so you could ask for a 1070 or something.

Though really, it would probably be cheaper/faster to pick up a new laptop with a GTX1060/1070 in it.

Yea, I am thinking I should just sell or trade it in and get a new one to save myself possible headaches. Do you by chance know how to calclate the resale value of a laptop? I paid $1347 w/o a OS installed. so with the OS it would of been like + or - $1500. Gadgetvalue says its worth around $1060 but with a 3rd gen i7. Is that about right?

I doubt you could convince anyone to pay that much. Better gaming laptops are available for around that price.

You might try for $800 or so.

1060 6GB + i7 HQ processors are about $1200, so you wouldn't have to pay all that much to upgrade.
