Hi - I'm completely new to laptop gaming and seek some advice. I (think) I found one that suits my needs for a little over my budget.

I generally don't play the very latest games on highest settings! I might occasionally dabble but it's more likely to be SimCity or Combat Mission: Normandy. This machine is replacing a desktop and I do use video editing software and often have several apps running at once.

Does £830 seem reasonable for what I'd get?
Will I be able to play what I want and manage applications to edit video etc?
Should I perhaps look to change one of the components (I want to stay below £900)?
What if I wanted to run newer FPS? Can these specs handle something - perhaps on lower settings?

Specs:
CPU: Intel Core i7 4710MQ
Operating System: Microsoft® Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
RAM: 8GB Corsair 1600mhz Vengeance Sodimm (2x4GB)
Hard Drive: 1TB S-ATAIII 6.0Gb/s 2.5"
Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 860M 2GB

Many thanks in advance.

That CPU/GPU combo should be able to play most current games well (on at least medium settings or better). It should also perform well with video editing tasks. As laptops go, this is a solid base to work from.

What specific make/model are you considering?
