i7 4th gen VS i7 6th gen (laptop for gaming)

I am planning to buy a laptop for gaming purpose but i am confused as for which processor to go with, because i came across 6th gen laptops recently. Some says 6th is not good for gaming where 4790k is the best. Can anyone recommend what to do?
Whether to go with 6th or 4th gen i7.
I don't care about battery issue as my laptop will be plugged for most of the times.
The laptop I went through was Asus ROG GL552VW

I think you mean the 4750HQ as the 4790k is a desktop CPU.

If the 4th gen is cheaper and both come with the same GPU, then the 4th gen i7 will be plenty. (just make sure it's a quad core, not the dual core i7s, which shouldn't be a problem if your getting Asus ROG or any other gaming laptop brand.)

neither i5 is more than enough for gaming, you don't need an i7 if you only want to play games

Thank you very much for the information it really helped, and the reason i replied so late was due to i bought ASUS ROG inbetween this period
