i7-6500U laptop + GTX 1070 over thunderbolt 3 external GPU box

I consider to use external TB3 GPU box with Dell xps 13 i7-6500U. Will the CPU limit GTX 1070 or this configuration is OK?

First, are you sure the external GPU box will work with the laptop you want?

Second, yes the low voltage dual core i7 will not keep up with an GTX 1070 in CPU heavy games.
