I'm Clueless

Alright im a senior in high school and i need 3 more credits in art classes to graduate. So i told my guidance counselor that i can not draw and chucked a little. So see told me i could take an intro to photography. So i said sure i will take that class the last half of the year. So now it is about 2 weeks till the second half of the year and i need a camera. And i do not know anything other than the higher the megapixels the more pixels on screen which means better looking picture.

So the question is i want to spend a little bit of money and get a decent camera. Can anyone give some advice to what camera i should buy? 100 to about 135
