I am using a Sharp LC-42LB261U TV as a monitor for my computer. It allows me to chose a resolution of 1920 x 1080 (1080p)and it is recommended resolution. However when I chose this resolution, my desktop is stretched larger than the screen so all the edges are cut off. Can anyone help me fix this?

Your TV is over scanning the picture so that you don't get blank lines. This is normal. Your options are to see if the TV has a 1 to 1 mode or can be adjusted to not overscan. The owners manual or service manual would give you this info. Some video drivers will have a way to adjust for this too.
