Okay so my hp probook 6455b can increase its graphics memory i believe up to 1gig. It's shared memory and as of right now its using 307mb does anyone know how to increase how much its sharing? I looked in the bios and in the ATI control program and i got nothin... It's an ATI mobility radeon HD 4250.. any help will be much appreciated

With laptops, you have limited capabilities when it comes to configurations in your BIOS. My laptop, is stuck at 215Mb VRAM. Sorry but there is no work-around for this.

Increasing memory will only help with textures anyway but your ati 4250 will struggle trying to push them, if you want a better gaming experience you should definitely upgrade to a newer laptop.

ahh well that kinda sucks lol. oh well it plays skyrim okay if i have the video settings down lol. I was just hoping to increase it.... and i'm not using windows, I'm using ubuntu @k1114

Now I understand why you're actually able to play games on that 4250, are you using WINE?

It could be because of Intel's integrated graphics on my laptop, but Ubuntu was horrible at even playing Minecraft for me. He must be using WINE because I don't think Skyrim can be played on Linux.

sorry for the confusion i have ubuntu along side windows 7. Im still getting used to ubuntu and the only thing i use windows for is games. I willsay that total war shogun2 fall of the samurai is horrible on here, even with graphics set to low. I haven't played with WINE yet.
