I've been looking around for a good laptop that can also play most games on good settings (as opposed to a pure gaming laptop). I was looking in Asus' website and I found the G550JK, which appears to be a fairly new model.

However I can't find much information about where to buy it or what configurations are available, or how much these configurations might be. One website had really close to what I wanted (I want 500+ gb 7200RPM HDD (or hybrid), 850M +, 1080p, 8gb RAM, i5+) for around $1000, which is actually really surprising, but the website didn't look very trustworthy and I wouldn't feel comfortable ordering from there since I've never heard of it before.

Does anyone know when this will be available for purchase (like from newegg or somewhere where I can configure it)? Also for the 850M at 900p-1080p, would it matter if I got the i5-4200H as opposed to the i7-4700HQ? Is there any benefit to battery life from the i5?

EDIT: also I'm open to any other suggestions for laptops. my budget is approx $1000, I absolutely will not get a 17", and I live in the US

you can definitely get the spec you want for that price - xoticpc.com I think its the sager 7358 - but including the OS it comes to about $990, but that's as cheap as it goes

why not check out the asus n550jk - basically the same machine except silver with white illuminated keys and a touch screen. that's $1099 - which im sure is what the g550jk would be

I have checked out the n550jk, but on newegg it's pretty vague, saying specs like "up to", but not giving a choice between different configurations. amazon has it for $1099, but with the 5400 rpm hdd. xoticpc has the option to get the 7200 rpm hdd, but this brings the price up $100. I'd still rather get the g550jk since it sounds like for the same price I'm trading a touchscreen for a faster hdd, which I'd prefer. Thanks for the info, I'll have to look into the sager
