Inspiron 14R 5437 Loose metal inside?

A guy gave me his Laptop to save his data and reformat the drive because he tried to restore the system but it failed and the lap was in a loop of BSoD.

So i went ahead and took the drive out conect it to my pc , saved all his data in my drive and then i was ready to put it back inside the lap and begin the process of re installation.

But for my surprise it didn't turn on... I couldn't believe it, there was no reason for it to don't turn on; all i did was to take out the HDD and thats it.

Then i heard there was something loose inside, so i went ahead and disassembly the whole thing just to get there and i found 3 pieces of these:

Could it be that this thing short circuit something?

Why the heck they put these inside? what is the purpose of these?

look like some kind of holder you need to get service manual to find out where they go hope they did not short anything .

According to the parts site, that's a Laptop Base Bottom Cover Assembly. Left hand side of the image there's 2 cutouts. The top cutout seems to have 2 of them on the left, and 1 on the right. Some sort of clips or bracket for whatever goes there in an Inspiron I assume.

Oh wow thank you for doing that research, i kinda had an idea where they go but i still don't know what they do or if they have a purpose to be there.
They are actually set around of one of the memory modules.

I took them all 3 out , the main problem that i have now is that the computer won't turn on at all. Power button does nothing and the lights remain off even if it is plugged in.

Laptop is dead :S

could you see a part number on this also check since they have holes there could be litttle srews in the system or on the fans even cpu holder .

Sure; it looks like the P/N is 0PYKK9

And well i couldn't find any screw in the system.

It refuses to give any signal of life; i even took the CMOS battery outside for like 10 mins and put it back in but still nothing.

I'm thinking on checking the voltage of the AC/DC adapter and also the cmos battery. Other than that i dunno; im not that tech savy to go ahead and check the voltage of the mobo itself...(i have done it with atx motherboards sometimes but never with a lap)

If you have some suggestion i would truly appreciate it

Can that memory module be removed or is it soldered in? It looks like those 3 clips might be spacers that keep the cover from pressing into them. Since they all popped out, maybe something hit them hard enough to damage the memory or unseat it. There's also a chance they're actually contacts of some sort, and without them it's failing some sort of electrical continuity check but I can't really tell from the installation video.

Ugh thank you guys for the continous support on this.

I tried to put them back but i couldn't. There seems to be missing some plastic circles that hold em down.

I still don't believe they have to be there in other to get the PC to turn on; and yes the memory can be removed i did it twice when i was putting apart everything.

The guy who gave me the laptop already knew there was something loose inside but didn't tell me and i didn't realize right away.

I guess i just had bad luck and these brackets short circuit something while the laptop was upsidedown and the battery was still in place.

if it was under power that could be bad thing that your out of luck on this one .

Actually nop, it was turned off but i have heard there can still be a shortcircuit if the battery is not removed.

All i did was turn it upside down and get the HDD out from the back and since then it never turn on again.

I will test it out tomorrow with the voltimeter (at least the fuse and the dc jack)

If i find something i will update this thread

Sorry for the double post lol just wanted to update that the P/N that i gave before was wrong .

its actually CN-0YGRK4 ; also just tested dc in jack with the multimeter and it seems to be working good so the mobo must be the problem.
