Installing software in VM

Hi guys, im using VM Ware in my Win-7 operating system, i'v installed XP proffesional in VM player, but i'am not able to install softwares in virtual machine where i'am using XP, i don knw wht might the problem be.. if any one of u knw wht the problem is please reply.....

what does it says when you try to install any applications.. do you got any message

ya it says " windows installerservice could not be accessed. This can occur if u r running windows in safe mode , or if windows installer is not installed correctly"

have you installed vmware tools..

go to run prompt it xp & enter services.msc

start services required & set its startup type as automatic
