Hey guys. I am debating between selling and getting a new laptop (with different combo) or keeping my current laptop. I mainly do Photoshop, video editing programs, some office works and some gaming. For games, I have GTA V, CS GO, BF4, may be I will try Witcher 3 in the future.

I currently have the Clevo/Prostar p150em which I just bought used from eBay for $640. Originally, this laptop model has i7-3720QM CPU and the seller upgraded the GPU to GTX 970M 6GB DDR5. I know the CPU would bottle neck the 970M but not by much, so I am cool with it. Since this model is kinda bulky and heavy, so I am thinking about re-selling it and getting either the Lenovo Y50 (i7 4720HQ + GTX 960M) or Asus GL551 (Same spec as the Y50) or Asus G751JL (i7 4720 HQ + GTX 965M). I know the Asus G751 would be even bulkier and heavier but the combo seems to be a much better match. Please let me know which combo should I go with or keep my current laptop. Thanks for any input.

There is no need to sell your Laptop because of that CPU(you will see a 5% improvement in CPU speed). After Ivy Bridge more or less there has only been an improvement in iGPU not much focus has been given to the CPU.(still no way the Intel HD is comparable to a discrete graphics card)
Lenovo Y50* is good enough for cooling a 960M (it also has dual fan cooling) & value for money.
*Lenovo Y700 its successor is out http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/ideapad/y700-series/
I would suggest to buy a SS to get significant improvement.
Don't bother going with 17" inch bulky Asus G751's unless it has 970M/980M
http://store.asus.com/us/item/201510AM170008064/A17602 - If you are okay with a 965M (you can't play in with high all settings on 1080p...

http://store.asus.com/us/item/201510AM160007799/A17602 - A far better choice as 970M is about 50% more powerful than the 960M.

Thanks for your answer. I am not switching because of the i7-3720. It is fast enough for what I do. My main concern is that it bottlenecks the GTX970M so I think that an i7-4720 with a GTX960M (a better match) could give me better performance in games. So my logic is if I upgrade the CPU to the newer model and downgrade the GPU from 970M to 960M/965M, I would get the right match. I could be wrong as I haven't tried. I have done some research but couldn't find any specific information regarding this.

As stated, my current laptop is also bulky and heavy so it keeps pushing me to the Lenovo Y50 which has the right combo IMO, and it is also slimmer and lighter.
