My tv works fine most of the time. However, periodically (sometimes every few hours), the picture and sound are lost on the tv to be replaced by snow and static. After some time (which varies), they both come back and everything is fine again - until the next time.

It's not the external cable connection . I've checked that and tried a new cable. Does anyone know what the problem might be and how I might fix it?

Thanks for any help/advice.

Sounds like a tuner problem. If it is really a CRT, then it is probably time to get a new TV as it is probably not worth the cost of fixing it.

Crap. I was afraid of that. I can't afford a new TV. I'll have to make due with the old little ones I have. Thanks.

Btw, what did you mean "if it really is a CRT"? What else would it be? It's not a flat screen tv of any kind.

CRT TVs have not been sold for several (many?) years. They are dinosaurs. You may be able to use an external tuner if you have some inputs other than the coax.
