Meanwhile, the USB mic is recognized by the system but I can't get it to work. Everytime I try to record it goes through the (disabled!) microphone.

Solution Ralston18 Aug 24, 2017 Be sure that you are "Applying or "OK-ing" the necessary mic configuration changes. Easy to overlook. Reinstall any related device drivers. Double check the mic's USB connection port. Try another USB port. Try the USB mic on another computer. Try another USB mic on the current computer. See if the problem follows the mic or stays with the computer. The objective is to narrow down what is happening.
