Internet download speed very slow only on laptop

Hey, I recently got a new laptop (MSI GE60) and the internet connection is very slow compared to my desktop internet connection using the same cable.
On the desktop I get 10ping, 20-30mbits down, and .5 mbits up but on the laptop, the download speed is 1bit down always while everything else is the same.

Can the port be broken? =/

I have the EXACT same problem...are you using Win 8 ?

I fixed the problem, it was my internet wire (I dont know how but it was).
Try:
1) Using another wire
2) Directly connecting it to modem
See if any of this solves the problem
