Vonage and at&t do not promise that their service will work with all these
things. I was told my Vonage they are working on it. But I had to go back to
landline. I tried everything that I could find on the internet and it would
not work.

Get a cable DVR. No phone required.

My TiVo works fine with AT&T's D-Link DVG-1120M.

Here's an excerpt from "AT&T CallVantage(sm) Service - More Features".

Fax and Modem Support
When you turn on Fax and Modem Support, you should be able to use
AT&T CallVantage Service with most commonly used fax machines and
modems.

With Fax and Modem Support:

* The service comes with Fax and Modem Support automatically turned
off. You must turn Fax and Modem Support on through your Account
Management & Settings page.
* There is no additional charge when you turn Fax and Modem Support
on beyond any per-minute charges for local toll or long distance calls
if you are not on an unlimited nationwide calling plan.
* Fax and Modem Support works with all TAs, including the D-Link
DVG-1120M, the TA we originally included with AT&T CallVantage Service.
* If you turn Fax and Modem Support on, a portion of your available
data bandwidth will be reserved exclusively for fax and modem support.
As a result, if your upstream speed is 125 Kbps or less, turning Fax and
Modem Support on may reduce your voice call quality or data throughput
(this is why your service comes with Fax and Modem Support turned off).
* Fax and Modem Support works with most commonly used fax machines
as well as some other data services, including
o fax machines
o modems
o personal video recorders (such as TiVo)
* If you have two phone lines, you need to turn Fax and Modem
Support on or off for each line separately.
* After you turn on Fax and Modem Support, you will need to reboot
your TA. For additional information and instructions, see "How do I turn
Fax and Modem Support on or off?"

For Vonage, try using the dialing prefix *99 before the phone number. This
works from the faxmodem in my PC and my multifunction device with fax. The
Tivos use my LAN to reach out so I cannot comment on how well the dialing
prefix works in their case, but it might be worth a try. There is some
question in my mind whether the dialing prefix works with every Vonage TA,
but it definitely works on the Motorola VT1005V TA.
