Is bios update needed for i7 720qm?

I own MSI gx660 notebook with i5 450m and decided to swap the cpu with i7 720qm. I found the said cpu used for 25$ and Im pretty sure Ive installed it properly but the notebook wont power on. Do I need to update my bios? I couldnt find anything useful in the manual. Current version is E16F1IMS VER 1.09.

It's always good practice to always perform a BIOS update prior to dropping in a CPU or even more ram. In this case, try it and see it any progress is made.

Latest version on MSI website is 1.03L, idk if that's newer or not.

Those 1st gens don't have integrated graphics. Often, the laptops with switchable graphics are set to start off the integrated graphics and switch to discrete once under Windows.

Entirely possible it isn't supported either. I took my i7-450m up to a (2-core) i7-640m and that worked, and made a noticeable improvement in speed.

This notebook has intel GPU disabled hardware vise and it cannot be changed (afaik). Also I did remove CMOS battery and resetting bios didn't work either.
