is it possible to upgrade the processor of my asus s400c

My PC is running a bit slow as i'm editing photos and rendering images. i was wondering if it is possible to upgrade it from an i3 to a low end i5?

Yes it should be possible. Get one from your motherboard's CPU Support List (Google it).

Depending on the specs, the CPU is soldered into the motherboard and you won't be able to upgrade it.

But from a quick Google search, the two available CPUs so far are BGA, which means replacing them is next to impossible.

Not easily, it uses a BGA cpu meaning its soldered to the motherboard. That model shipped with multiple cpu options so you could replace the motherboard for one that has the faster i5 or i7 cpu already soldered on.
