is it true Samsung can't pass Audio back through HDMI ARC to AV Receiver??

I just bought the top end Samsung SUHD Series 9000 and I can't get audio back to my receiver with HDMI ARC. They say to need to pull an additional optical. Is there a solution>

Does your receiver support HDMI ARC?
The receiver and TV must support it. not just one of them.

It either has an audio return channel port or it doesn't. Your receiver either supports it or doesn't. There is no "fix". Read your manual

My 5 year old Samsung 52" TV supports it.
But so does my newer Samsung surround system. Works fine for me .
Although my older Denon system does not support it.
Now the wife can use one remote to control all functions on the TV and Surround system.
