I have this HP ProBook laptop, got it for like $700. it's a 2nd generation i3 [2.10GHz], 8GB RAM, and 500GB HDD.
It's motherboard is damaged.
I'm in India now, and HP service here is asking for INR15,000. That's $230.
Is it worth replacing the motherboard for 230 bucks? Or is it better to get a new computer?
Are 2nd generation i3's obsolete? Thanks.

Right now i have a probook (exact like yours ) for custom repair i would say its a pretty kay laptop it is on par with a core duo with higher clock and same architecture it depends how much will you pay for a new notebook around 600- 1000 would bring you a beast of a laptop but to be fair i liked hp until their newer models their battery always dies the gpu RIP or the motherboard is pure overkill. And if you repair it it might die again soon so i hardly recomend to get a new laptop and not pay 230 bucks
