is paint.net legit?

hey there everybody i have been making youtube videos for 5 months now. i am a youtube partner and i can make thumbnails! but the thing is i want to know if paint.net is legit? lately i have been using the paint program for thumbnails through windows lol. other than that i just want to know if paint.net is legit? because i went to go download it and it said before continuing the following software will make changes to your computer.

Paint.NET is absolutely a legitimate software, i have personally used it for 3 years without issues... No malware, no problems at all.. It is an excellent upgrade from Windows paint with numerous features, but not so difficult to manipulate as Photoshop or GIMP

It is legit and many people like it for being better than MS Paint but yet just as simple.

If you have doubts in a software then download it from CNET, they check installation files before uploading so there is no way you can damage your computer with any of tools you get there

Absolutely legit. It started out as a graduate project by some Stanford students. Then it got subsumed into the Microsoft maw.

(and installing anything 'makes changes to your computer')
