Is PC make identifiable

When sending an email, how much information is being sent out?
Can the actual brand of computer be identified? i.e Acer, Asus, HP etc., etc.

This depends a whole lot on what email system you use. Generally, at most you can get the IP address, which may identify the sending ISP. Maybe.
As far as what make of PC? No.

Why would you be concerned about people knowing what make of computer you have?? While there could be an exploit in drivers preferred by one vendor, or in bundled software, but a computer is not more easily hack able because of what vendor made it.

Thanks USAFRret, that's how I understood it to be. I can trace the IP which gives me a known SP in some instances and "private" in others. I just wondered if there was any other encrypted information that would help me pinpoint the source.

Right. The physical address can only be determined by the ISP.
Where is 74.124.xxx.xxx ? You will know that it comes from Verizon FiOS, probably (but maybe not) tied to a specific city.

This is not always the case. It depends on 'who' owns that IP block. For instance, at work, my IP address comes from an organization several hundred miles away. When I go to Lowes.com, they assume my 'local store' is in that place 700 miles away.

There are, however, many other ways to determine who 'you' are.

Lol, yes if I had the resources, I suppose I could learn anything about anyone.
In this case I am trying to figure out "who" the sender is and mobile (MacDonald's/Starbucks etc.) wifi isn't helping.
It's not bothersome enough to engage the law though.

Ah. So we're looking at this from the other direction entirely.

Not an informational "what info is my PC email sending out", but rather "I need to track someone down via their email details"

1. You can't.
2. You'd get no help here with that even if you could.
