Is the GTX 940mx good for video editing?

Hello,

I am looking for a laptop. I will be using it for high school and at home. I am looking at the new Spectre x360 (2017), and am wondering if it is worth getting the 15 inch model with GTX 940mx. I don't mind the weight or size and I actually like the bigger screen but is it really worth getting it to sacrifice portability (power is priority for me)?

I will be:
- editing videos
- light gaming (Minecraft)
- sync phone
- programming
- documents
- slideshows
- note taking

Other questions:
What are some really good and FREE video editing softwares (or can I use iMovie)? What kind of iCloud programs can I run and how does that work?

It's definitely able. I have an Nvidia 525m in my 6+ year old laptop and I could use After Effects and Sony Vegas easily. Infact I used it alot. Rendering times may not be as fast as modern laptops but it's definitely no slouch for editing videos.

For editing simple videos with a few effects yes. For more complex videos probably not. For programming, you can if you are learning and are restricted to 2d programs.
