is the output voltage from dvd players the same as cassette decks?

I want to use an equalizer to modulate the sound signal from my dvd player before it enters my tv set, but i want to know if the dvd's output voltage is the same as the output (line out) voltage from a cassette deck, since the equalizer I want to use is an old device.

Yeah, line levels are pretty standard, so if you have a line out on a DVD player it should go in to a line in on a receiver with an input marked 'Tape' or similar. The only one to watch out for is Phono for a record player, they were far lower levels so it will cause some problems usually i you plug line levels in there.

Virtually any device that has a line out, outputs at the same voltage level, it is an industry standard.

Yes, I knew about the lower voltage from phono sets; this will also help me to use my amplifier (Pioneer A-209) as the sound manager... whenever I can buy a new set of speakers (that's why I use the TV set). By the way, do you think I can use the equalizer between my turntable and the amplifier?

In order to do that you'd need a pre-amp, I'm sure you could find one pretty cheap though.

It should be noted that the output of a turntable as well as being at a low level is also RIAA corrected and so if you do get a pre-amp make sure it has a phono input for turntables.
It may be worth checking your equalizer as some do have phono inputs.
