Is the processor powerful enough to keep up with GT 640M?

I rushed myself and posted a topic in the wrong section without noticing this one.
Basically there is a laptop with i3-3110 2,4ghz Ivy Bridge CPU but you can choose the 630M or 640M card. I know 640M is more powerful but my concern is if the CPU will be able to keep up with it. As in trying to avoid spending more money on better video card if at the end of the day the better card cannot fulfill it's potential because the CPU is too weak.

Yes, they will work well together (the CPU and either GPU). No worries with either.

You generally do not have to worry about CPUs keeping up with GPUs in laptops.

Laptop GPUs are much less powerful than their desktop counterparts. Laptop CPUs are also less powerful than their desktop counterparts, but their performance are not as castrated like the GPUs.
