Is the there a way to project kodi on an iMac to tv via a blue ray player?

Solution
You can't view your laptop on the TV via a BD player. The BD player might be able to play files on the laptop but not a program running on the laptop.
You can connect the laptop to the TV with HDMI.
You can use Apple TV to stream content from the laptop to the TV.
You can use a chromestick or Roku to do that too.

Kodi allows you to view streams of video on the internet. These streams are all available via a browser but Kodi makes it easy to search and watch them. I don't think it downloads the file. If the stream is illegal then the content owner can stop the stream at the source. Originally Kodi was XBMC a Microsoft media center program.

no problem, but never seen any legitimate use for kodi so far. as a simple media player, it's not much, but never really seen it used for anything other than the pirating plugins. for a simple media player, it can be projected with the normal stuff.

There are legit uses for this tool, just like there are legit uses for torrenting. Let the OP clarify the questions and we'll proceed from there.
