Is there an audible difference between 2.0 and 2.1 speaker systems?

I have been looking at a few different 2.0 (mostly Edifier) speaker systems and I have noticed that they are usually more expensive than, say, Logitech Z533. Some of them are twice as expensive as Logitech Z533, which is a 2.1 speaker system.

Are 2.0 systems good at channeling bass given they lack the subwoofer element which its predominant function is providing 'bass'? How does something like Logitech Z533 or Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 compare to 2.0 speaker systems that are more expensive?

The .1 is the sub-woofer and produces, generally, much better bass. That is the major difference between 2.0 and 2.1.

You are asking a generic question so the answer depends.
A lower quality 2.1 system may not have better bass than a higher quality 2.0 system.
Two good 6.5 inch woofers in a 2.0 system may have better quality and maybe even more bass than a 2.1 system with one cheap 4 or 6 inch woofer.
Then you have the quality of the midbass and higher ranges. That has little to do with whether the speakers have a subwoofer or not.
You can add a powered subwoofer to any 2.0 system later.
Better speakers have wood cabinets.
