I am a college student and this laptops main purposes will be used for internet surfing, watching/streaming videos, downloading and listening to music, typing papers and pretty much things college students do. I also work part time as a bookkeeper and deal with alot of accounting programs and big files.
I usually play Sims 3 for 2 hours a day or every few days. I will also be trying the new Sims city.
Here are the specs to the laptop I am looking at buying.

Sony Vaio S Series (SVS151290X Enhanced )
• 3rd gen Intel® Core™ i5-3210M (2.50GHz / 3.10GHz with Turbo Boost)
• Windows 8 64-bit
• No Fresh Start
• Microsoft® Office 2010 trial version
• 15.5" LED backlit Full HD IPS display (1920 x 1080)
• NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 640M LE (2GB) hybrid graphics with Intel® Wireless Display technology[$50.00]
• 256GB (128GB x2) solid state drive with RAID 0 [$440.00]
• 8GB (4GB fixed onboard + 4GB removable) DDR3-1333MHz
• CD/DVD player / burner
• Internal lithium polymer battery (4400mAh)
I will look into buying the extended sheet battery as well.

1.Is an SSD Drive worth it?
2. Is this sufficient enough for Sims 3
3. Is this a good gaming/college capable laptop

1. SSD drives are always worth it. They can make your computer/laptop a whole lot more responsive.
2. Definitely enough for Sims 3 I can guarantee you that.
3.For college activities it will definitely be fast enough for your needs.
