i've a philips dvd home thereatre with aux L/R in and 5.1 out, if i connect it through a digital decoder of 5.1 to L/R out will it remain same?

1. Your question is not quite clear:
- what you do expect to remain "the same"?
- what exactly are you trying to achieve?
2. Home theaters (combo units with DVD/BD player and 5.1 speakers) usually have very bad connectivity. What's the exact model of yours?

You don't say what you want to connect to the HTS.
If it's a TV that only outputs in digital 5.1 bitstream then you can get a DAC that is compatible with that.

If it's a computer you can always set it to output in stereo and not use the additional channels. The PC will do the work of the converter you envision for you.
