I have been experiancing random crashes and I don't know whats wrong, I've updated the Bios from packard bell but I still get the crashes it's not overheating if anything it's cooler. The CPU I had before was a b830. Is there a bios from another company I can use? (preferably from one that has a i5-2450 stock)

I'd rather not if I don't have to

[Update] The crashes seem to be less random every 30min ish (no it's not a power or screensaver thing) the laptop goes black, completely off without warning no shutdown just off.

[Update] The i5-2450 is PPGA988 and the old Celeron b830 is FCPGA988, I was told this was not a problem as they are both G2 Sockets and as long as it fits it'd be fine, could this be the culprit I don't want to start removing and sending parts back if it can be helped.

Hi there, did you find a solution?
I tried doing this with my te11hc a while back with the same processor and couldn't find a solution. Any guidance on what you've found would be extremely helpful

I upgraded to a Pentium 2030M in the end the chipset is a HM70 and your CPU upgrade options are:
Celeron 1000M
Celeron 1020M
Pentium 2020M
Pentium 2030M
(Note: anything ending in U or Y is a soldered CPU)

The peoblem is your chipset is limited. I guess you have a intel hm70 chipset. I replaced my celeron b830 with a i3 2350m and it worked fine, for 30min and the a complete power shutdown. Its the hm70 chipsetm although i core cpu's can fit its limited to celeron and Pentium dual core cpu's. The highest cpu for intel hm70 chipset is a pentium 2030m. The hm76 chipset support all core i cpu's
