keyboard failure

i've an acer aspire 5585 whose keyboard wont work anymore. i cant even enter bios(using f2 key at the acer logo splash screen where it says "press f2 to enter setup"), but the wierd thing is that if i turn on the laptop with F2 key pressed i get in the bios but still the keyboard wouldn't work and cannot navigate through bios menu.

ps... my touchpad works fine

So order a new keyboard from acer. They're pretty easy to replace.

Hi I have have had an Acer Aspire 5580 for a while now and was having nothing but problems withit until a "techie" friend pointed me in this direction and fingers crossed I have had no bother since. http/www.user-guides.co.uk/Acer/AcerCDDownloads.asp

You could try to remove the keyboard and detach the ribbon cable, inspect and clean the ribbon cable contact points, then reassemble. Just re-seating the cable may fix the problem. You might also try disconnecting the keyboard ribbon cable, start the computer, then shut down, and then reattach the keyboard and restart. -good luck, -Bill
