I'm having issues with a keyboard on a dv6-6145dx that I'm working on for a friend. I've removed the keyboard and reinstalled it just to make sure it was properly connected and cleaned it up a bit. I've also downloaded the manufacturers drivers and uninstalled and reinstalled the keyboard through device manager to see if that would fix it. Basically the problem I'm experiencing is every key press triggers two keys. For example, if i press "Z" it types "ZA". If I press "A" I get "AZ". If I type "Q" i get "1Q" and it seems the Q is held down and keeps putting Qs. Also the function keys are all messed up and O does something with beats audio now. All in all it's just a pretty messed up keyboard. What I need to know is if anyone has any advice and whether or not replacing the keyboard would address an issue like this? Thanks in advance!

Hi,

You've pretty much done most of the possible troubleshooting steps that should have resolved it and you're left with these other steps.
- First is to connect an external USB keyboard and see if the same problem will persist or not.
- If the external keyboard will work just fine that could mean the built in keyboard is defective.
- Before you replace it with a new once, I would suggest reinstalling Windows first because it can also just be a software problem that's causing that problem.

Thanks for the response. I actually just did a clean install of Windows 7 thinking that would fix the issue the computer was experiencing on Windows 10. So with a fresh Windows 7 install and the USB keyboard working just fine it's gotta be the internal keyboard? Thank again!
