What is the best buy for an 8 year old child? Processing of disposable's is
starting too cost too much.

Cheapest I have seen is the Kodak Easyshare CX7300 for $99.

I doubt you'll find something much cheaper that will take decent photos.
B&H had some used cameras, and you can always check eBay. Last time I was
in Wal-Mart I found some nice brand-name cameras for around $100.

IMO I wouldn't spend too much (kids drop things), and I would make sure the
camera has an LCD screen. Kids like to see what they've just taken without
going to a computer.

Keep in mind, however, that if your kid decides to print everything they
take it will probably cost more in ink and paper than processing photos from
a disposable.

I wouldn't start with the cheapest. I'd look for something a little
durable. Or if you think it won't last long, get something used.

If I was looking for a camera like this I would insist on AA batteries (all
types including alkaline) and SD memory cards, even if the camera cost a
little more you will save in the long run. Don't care about MP as long as it
is at least 2MP (will do a good print at 6x4). Oh yeah I would also visit my
local shop and make sure the child liked the camera and could use it, if
they have difficulty using it then you will have wasted all your dough, and
teach them to use the viewfinder for taking photos and the screen to review.

Cheers.

Greetings Joel,

Check the local stores for deals and the web for used or cameras. That
might be a good bet. If you buy from the web second hand, you do not get a
warranty, but you get a lot lower price. If your child is OK witha camera,
it may be worth considering. At 8 it is pretty young yet? Check the Kodak
site or try the reference numbers online, if you are interested in a Kodak
camera. A low end point and shoot model may be best as it would be easier
for them and less expensive for you. Let me know what you do.

Talk to you soon,

I would watch for the stores in your area to see what kind of price you
might get on a new model. Or, check the
