Hi everyone,

Next year (September 2014), I'm hoping to be going to college. I just need a new lap- or ultrabook for this. Right now I have a ASUS X52J with an i3 processor and nvidia 310m, but actually I need a little bit more I guess.

Main goals:
- Casual gaming (Football Manager, some new games like Battlefield on medium settings, that kind of stuff)
- Collegethings, like writing papers, taking notes (won't be too hard)
- Maybe a small SSD drive, I've heard that it would make starting easier and quicker
- I have to take it all over campus everyday, so it should be quite easy to carry the machine (light, not too big)

That's about it, I hope someone can help me with this :)

Thanks a lot in advance!

So if you're gonna stick with gaming then
Option 1 becomes more of a secondary laptop, I really like it cuz it's really light and does everything a college student would need other than gaming, and it does come with 100GB of Google Drive for 2 years in order to compensate the low internal drive capacity.
Option 2 becomes a no no since it's too expensive for you to be a secondary laptop
Option 3 sounds like what you want so let's go from here, the link that you've provided me with looks like the same one that I've suggested. When comparing Acer and Lenovo with similar price tag and spec, I would go with Lenovo due to their brand being more well known. As time goes on, it would be very easy to purchase a SSD and an external enclosure for...

I'm a freshman in college which I originally thought I was going to game very often cuz that's what I used to do. However, I quit gaming a few months ago lol
My point is that it might be a waste if you don't game.
Keep in mind the portability as it gets closer to full gaming laptop.

Option 1 for straight up money saving and school-oriented: http://www.ebuyer.com/522809-samsung-303c12-chromebook-xe303c12-a01uk
Option 2 for cool kids: http://www.ebuyer.com/579702-asus-t100ta-tablet-pc-t100ta-dk002h
Option 3 for semi-gaming: http://www.ebuyer.com/614839-lenovo-flex-15-convertible-laptop-59409251
Option 4 for all in gaming: http://www.ebuyer.com/583053-msi-ge60-gaming-laptop-ge60-2od-286uk

Thanks for your reaction!

I'm not so sure on the chromebook, it has almost no hard driver space and I don't think this will be the best one for me.

Option 2 seems good, although I don't know how quick it will be with that processor, and how it will be running these games (still thinking I'm going to keep up the gaming :))

Option 3 looks very good! How does something like this look? (Need to ship it to the Netherlands so excuse me for this Dutch site) https://m.bol.com/nl/p/lenovo-ideapad-flex-15-00559-laptop-touch-hybride/9200000022664214/
It's more or less the same I thought, with a nvidia graphicsgard and i5 processor. Also 8gb SSD drive just for starting the system, and 500gbs will fulfill my needs as well.

Option 4 is, as you said, too much gaming and I think the battery life is not so long as the other 3...

What do you think about the Acer Aspire V5 573G? Found that one a few days ago. Thanks!

Option 4, what's option 4....
