I have an old Sony Vaio model VPCEA16FG (Intel i5@520M, 6GB DDR3 RAM) and I am getting atikmdag.sys BSOD error every time I start my windows.

I have looked in other forums, tried the EXPAND command (EXPAND.EXE atikmdag.sy_ atikmdag.sys) and replaced the atikmdag.sys file in system32/drivers. Even tried reinstalling window, but still facing the same error.

I tried cleaning up the graphics card and applying new thermal paste but it still didn't work.

Is buying a new laptop my only option or is there anything else I can do to remedy this issue.

Solution
it could probably caused by old components that usually had such an old latest driver that were not designed for newer os. my old laptop from 2012 have a lot of bsod issue when i upgraded to windows 10, solved most problems, but still have several instability, so bsod still pop up several times
