~Acer Aspire 5750zg~
My laptop screen lights up but stays black,It posts and I hear Windows welcome screen. Doesn't work with external monitor either, replaced the LCD flat cable still the same...What could be the issue here and how to fix it?

Solution
If it won't work with the connected display or an external monitor, then you may well have a damaged graphics card/GPU which would need to be replaced to fix the problem.

Be sure though that you tried attaching the external monitor correctly to do the test. If just just connect it, that may not work correctly. Try it the following way. Then if it still doesn't work, you need to get the replacement I mentioned above.

1. Turn the laptop off (not sleep or hibernate but off).
2. Connect an external monitor to the laptop.
3. Turn on the external monitor.
4. Turn on the laptop.

NOTE: You may have to press an "external monitor" button. Could be the f4 button or a button with two monitors on it, for the external monitor to work.

If, after trying the above, the device still doesn't work, and if the laptop is still under warranty, I would then contact the manufacturer.

Probably the lcd backlight fused or the lcd inverter failed.

The inverter is usually very easy (and cheap) to replace (the flat cable is normally connected to the inverter), the backlight either CCFL's or leds are a lot more complicated and is easier to just replace all the screen.

Is it normal if the inverter is faulty to not display even on a external monitor?
