Hi, let me just start off by saying I am terrible at this stuff. I have got a second monitor hooked up to my laptop. I can toggle between them just fine using the fn+f8 key combination. But when I go to display setting, I only see one monitor, what do I do about this. Also I have a dell inspiron 5100 with windows xp home edition.

Haven't used XP for a while...

You may need to set it to 'extend' rather than 'duplicate'.

The other option is I'm not sure how many simultaneous display outputs that laptop supports - modern intel iGPUs support 3, while older ones only did 2. It's possible it can only run one screen at once.

Windows xp is becoming less common, I still use it since I'm stuck with my dads old laptop, which can't handle xp due to it's graphics card, and the laptop really isn't worth updating (sorry about the off-topic comment).
