hey,
I recently sent my laptop back for a hard drive replacement as the hard drive had failed, the hard drive was replaced, the fans were cleaned, heatsinks were cleaned and new high end paste was added
when I received my laptop back there was a loud rattling noise present from within the laptop which frequently happens
With the laptop stationary it can be quiet. Picking it up and gently shaking it, it will also be quiet
with the laptop stationary and the rattling noise begins to happen, picking it up and gently shaking it causes the rattling to become louder, harsher and sound very bad
We opened the laptop and noticed a few scratch defects on the cpu fan which is located at the same place the rattling happens as if something has been catching on the fan and it has become damaged
There is a strong correlation that the rattling noise happens upon intensive tasks and when the fans can be faintly heard being active
resorting to closing all apps and making the laptop idle, the fans go quieter and eventually the rattle goes away
We tried booting the laptop without the dvd drive in but the rattle still happened and we don't think it's the hard drive
Any thoughts?
