Laptop freeze

Hello,

I have a alienware M17x laptop and for a couple of years it has run fine. But for the last two or three weeks it has been freezing up usually when the computer goes into sleep mode and the only way to fix it is to power down and reboot.

I changed the hard drive and reloaded windows 7 but after a week of good times, the problem came back.

Once I did get a message about "ST micro screen detection sensor not compatible with this version of windows" so I reloaded the AMD Radeon HD 4870 driver but that did not help.

Any ideas?

so you already reformatted you alienware?if you did. then the problem could lie within the hardware itself
