I have a Toshiba Satellite laptop notebook. It's been freezing while doing anything that causes the GPU to be under load. The GPU is an Intel HD 3000.

I've done FurMark GPU stress and it freezes after about a minute. The GPU temp doesn't go above 65C.

While playing games, the freeze happens anywhere from 5 minutes in to an hour or so in.

Solution

Probably a small section of VRAM defective, don't know if that's integrated into the GPU chip or separate on the mobo. Either way, no easy fix!
Motherboard number to be found under the Memory sticks for HP Laptops don't know if that applies to Toshiba. K00121690 is a typical number

Sounds like GPU is failing, but worth trying to re-install it's driver...

I just downloaded and installed a lower version of the driver as I currently had the newest version.
Ran FurMark and the problem still persist.

I don't think the GPU on this laptop is replaceable. It's built into the motherboard.

Exactly right. Either send away for Mobo repair or replace the Mobo yourself. What model is your Toshiba?

Hmm. Do you have access to Ebay? Plenty of Laptop Repairs on offer, but check to see if they offer Reball rather than Reflow. Personally I get Motherboard replacements from China and fit them, but need an exact board number...

Alibaba is the Chinese equivalent of Amazon, I've had great service from them thus far, but you don't need to be in a hurry!
