I am going to buy a laptop but I don't know which one. One is a HP Pavilion 15-p264na with an
.AMD A Series AMD Quad-Core A10-4655M APU quad core processor
.2GHz processor speed
.8GB RAM
.1000GB SATA hard drive
and Beats Audio sound system
http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/3432077.htm
or a Toshiba L50-B-1NL with a
.Intel Core i3 i3-4005U dual core processor
.1.7GHz processor speed
.4GB RAM
.1000GB SATA hard drive
and DTS sound system
http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/2488307.htm
I am going to use the laptop only for work, a bit of Minecraft and mostly entertainment such as YouTube and Facebook etc. I may not play Minecraft, I don't know. Which laptop is best for me? Please help me as I'm no expert in laptop and computing. Any help is very much appreciated. Thanks.

I would say the Hp Pavillion. You get more ram, and 8 Gb is really good for your use and probably a little more. The processor is really good (Also has built in graphics) and you would be able to run most games at about low or medium settings (Depending on the game). If however you are not playing any games (Minecraft), the Toshiba might be better. But just remember you are getting less ram with it so it might be slightly slower to do certain things.

My Hp laptop actually has similar specs, except it has 6 Gb of ram and a 500 Gb hard drive, and i am always on Youtube etc... And i have played games such as Far Cry 3, Crysis 2 and 3, The Walking Dead, Assasins Creed, Batman Arkham City, Bioshock and a few of the Call of Duty's.

I would take the HP Pavillion. It is a more powerful CPU with a handy built in graphics card. Plus it has more RAM. If they are a similar price the HP laptop is a much better deal.

In all honesty I would go with the HP. Its cheaper has more ram. Faster clock speed on the processor. with 2 extra cores.
I have previously owned both an HP and Toshiba laptops. I like HP better. But that is IMO. One thing to note about HP is the
all the extra HP software.

Thanks for all of that. All three of you have said the HP so that's what I'm going for.
I was looking at some posts and it says AMD is slower than i3. Is this true? Thanks for the quick reply. Also one more thing. Can you connect the HP to a TV like the Toshiba when watching movies and display with HDMI?

I found a comparison on a site that is normally very intel biased.
http://cpuboss.com/cpus/Intel-Core-i3-4005U-vs-AMD-A10-4655M

Single core performance is slightly better on the i3, but for many tasks such as video editing, photoshop, gaming and streaming I would expect the AMD setup to perform better. Multi-tasking score is about the same on that site, but it doesn't take into account the boost you get from the graphics card when it comes to video.

No problem! I honestly believe there is an intel bias on most review sites, as intel tends to give away a lot more free CPUs as part of their marketing.

Usually if a site says the intel CPU is slightly better than AMD there will be no noticeable difference between the two CPUs.

I ran a much older less powerful AMD laptop for a while, and my housemates still use it. My old AMD laptop works great for minecraft, youtube and facebook. This new one you are looking at is far more powerful than the one I had.

This will depend on if you need a portable laptop with long battery life, if you do get the Toshiba. Otherwise get the Hp. U series cpus are made for battery life and M cpus are made for power but as you are only watching youtube both will be good. The game is going to be the decider as more ram is better.

There will be a slight difference in battery life, but that AMD laptop, will still be better on battery life than my current intel quad core i7 laptop. You will definitely get at least three and a half hours of word processing on battery for study on the go, writing reports, and things like that.
