Laptop jack/adapter misfunctioning

Hi. My laptop won't charge unless I rotate the adapter plug just the right way in the socket. I'm not certain whether it's a problem with the jack or the adapter, so I don't know which one to replace. I was wondering how to tell which one is faulty.

The laptop is a toshiba satellite with a 19v adapter.

Well, you could try borrowing an adapter cord and see if it works fine or not. Also try using yours on another device and see if it works for it. If it works fine with another device, and the borrowed one gives you problems with your laptop, then you know it is the port that needs replacing.
