Laptop Keyboard Mods... Backlighting

Hey gang, I am having some trouble finding any info on the potential modding of a new laptop of mine, that has an extremely unimpressive keyboard... Definitely as fragile as I have ever seen, and just a matter of time until it breaks... I was wondering about maybe modding it/replacing it, but I am very new to these types of procedures and wanted to get some input to see if it was even possible for one thing, and where I might go, how I might go, about seeking it out... I would really like to find someone that could install/mod it with a back-lit keyboard, but I just can't find any new posts on the subject... Would any of you have any ideas??

Intriguing concept but not the greatest for laptop battery life I would have thought !
