I've had this problem for quite some time now (I've been using a wired connection ever since). My laptop is a 4-year-old Compaq Presario. I have my laptop up stairs in my room, with the router downstairs almost directly under me. Connecting to WiFi shouldn't be an issue in my room since my phone & Xbox can connect just fine. I've tried renewing my my IP (rebooting the router does nothing). My router is relatively new (less than a year old) so I doubt it has anything to do with that. If there's anything any of you can help me, it would be very much appreciated.

Unfortunately, this did not work. I made sure to put in everything in the correct areas.

Can you see your WiFi in network and sharing is it connected or with limited access or no connection? Or any other WiFi
If you go to control panel check in device manager in network adapters is the wireless adapter working anything showing as not working.
If you are able to connect by wired connection? If you are comfortable re-seating the wireless card which will be on the back panel of your unit you could try this out as it may have lose.

After fixing the driver issue I had, I now only get limited access.
Everything under Network Adapters in Device Manager is working properly.
I am able to connect through wired connection. Would you be able to send me a tutorial on how to re-seat the wireless card?

I don't know what modal you have but this is often where they can be found, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M_-gAujUTfc
If that don't work see if you can borrow a WiFi USB dongle off someone to test if its not something else like a software issue or better still borrow a dongle fist. You may find you'de prefer to use a new dongle

Maplin one is faster at 300mb or find an alternative 300mb on ebay?

Remember if you borrow a dongle you might have to find the dongles driver.

Did you reinstall wifi drivers? Try disabling/ enabling it and if it doesn't work then reinstall them, you might even check for Bios updates, but that shouldn't be the case (although it sometimes is). If the connection is limited, what do you see in ipconfig? try setting a static IP within the range of router and make sure you put the right gateway (router address)
