Laptop Not Detecting RAM !!

Hi guys,

I bought Asus R558UQ last day (4GB DDR4 2133MHz) which supports upto 12GB RAM. I bought an HyperX 8GB DDR4 2133 SO-DIMM RAM to upgrade the RAM and put it in. But the laptop still shows it has 4GB RAM only. I updated the BIOS. Still it doesn't detect the 8GB stick. Please help.

1st of all check your windows operating system make sure its 64bit not 32bit.if its 32bit only up to 4gb of ram can be use.

then it could be the ram itself.have u check if the ram that u purchase is supported by the laptop motherboard?i believe it uses pc4-17000 stick.

I don't know actually. I thought all I should check is the frequency and data rate. :-(

I suggest going to crucial.com and get your system ram scan.also check if the ram is properly seated.also check with the manufacturer site for ram module that is supported by laptop board
