my laptop which is an acer aspire 5742 won't turn on. when i first noticed that the power light was blinking and not turning on, i did a solution which i've found on this site which is to take out the charger, then battery, and hold down power button for 20 seconds, insert battery, then charger and make sure charger is plugged into main power supply. i've done this and it has worked several times previously but this time when i tried it nothing turned on. i've even took everything out for 2 days, put it back together and tried once more again nothing. i need someones help please, i'm a student and i need my laptop for my course and i can't afford to go have it fixed somewhere else.
i know but if i was able to afford to do that i would've from the get go, but as a student finances are tight. and honestly i don't see the point of going to one where he's going to charge me a few hundred when i can get a new one for about the same price. its just i got some programs on it that i don't want to lose. can i ask you something? i took out my old desktop to use and when i put in the installation cd which i got from a guy who serviced my desktop a few years ago, i realized that there's no product key for it and now it says i have twenty-odd days left to use windows. do you know any place where i can get a product key that works? i need one for windows xp professional 5.1.2600 service pack 2 build 2600, yeah really old i know!
