Laptop randomly fails to start

Hi, my laptop is running windows 7 and every so often usually once maybe twice per week it fails to start. When it does this it boots to the windows loading screen, then shuts off, restarts and tries to launch startup repair.
If I run startup repair it usually restarts again and works fine, other times it takes a couple of times running startup repair before it boots successfully.

Any ideas?

Yes i have 2 ideas
- the common problem with chipset chip is "unglued" and you need rebol or motherboard replace
- you HDD is having problems - need to test it with MHDD from Hirens Boot CD
