Laptop turns itself on?

Hey guys,

my partner has an Acer Aspire 5535, shes had it for about 2-3 years now and for about a year and half of it, it will turn itself on when its been closed. Ususally when you close a laptop up it will boot down until you open the screen back up, but we keep on waking up to find its booted itself up to the log in screen and the fans whirring like mad while its still closed.

Does anyone have any ideas on why this is happening? ive no lue what to do!

When you close it, it does not turn off, it goes to "sleep" where it is on but running at a low power state now even though it is closed there are a number of programs that can wake it from sleep and cause that problem you are having.

@ThreadStarter: try to initiate the shutdown process before closing your machine

ok, is there any programs which you know of that may be causing this? it doesnt happen all the time, just quite regularly.
