I have a retina Macbook Pro from 2012 which has a quad core 2.3 ghz (i7-3615QM) processor and NVidia GT 650M GPU and I would like to find a laptop with better specs (It's been 4 years) but the same form-factor (slim aluminum body). I also do not want to go down in display resolution to HD from the 2880 x 1800 I have been enjoying. Any recommendations out there? I really appreciate any help!

The question is how long can you wait for a refreshed version of the Dell XPS 15? There are no rumors as to when it will be released. nVidia has made no official launch date of the GTX 1050 for laptops. At this point in time it will likely be sometime in the 1st quarter of 2017.

With regards to the Dell's 84Whr battery, it occupies the 2.5" bay for a hard drive / SSD. That means the maximum storage capacity is limited to the M.2 PCIe SSD which is 1TB.

Well I was hoping to find one that also had a 15" display, is there a razer 15" or comparable device?

Doing daily tasks like web browsing and word documents I feel like at least 5 hours and when gaming at least an hour. The MSI only gets 2 hours of battery life and the razer has a small (14-inch) screen. Thanks guys for looking into this with me!

There's the 15.6" Dell XPS 15. However, it has not been refreshed with the most current tech. Intel recently released the 7th generation Core series CPUs and nVidia released the GTX 10xx series GPU.

The 15.6" Dell XPS 15 has a 6th generation quad core i5-6300HQ and GTX 960m. It also has a high quality 4k resolution screen, based on reviews it pretty much has very good color accuracy right out of the box (if color accuracy is important to you). But that is only available on the most expensive Dell XPS 15 listed on Dell's website. The screen has thin bezels which makes this laptop about the size of an average 14" laptop. Be aware that high resolution screens reduces battery life. But based on reviews I've read when this laptop was initially released, the 4k version should be about to get 6 - 7 hours with "average usage". You should good for reviews though.

There is no leaked info about when Dell may refresh the Dell XPS 15 to include 7th generation Intel CPUs and a GTX 10xx series GPU. I gut feeling is that will not happen until nVidia releases the GTX 1050 for laptops. The GTX 1060 likely produces too much heat for the Dell XPS 15. Since the current design for the Dell XPS 15 has only been around for about 1 year, I highly doubt Dell will make significant changes to the laptop's chassis to be able to handle and dissipate the heat from a GTX 1060... which is why I believe they are waiting for the GTX 1050 which people speculate the performance will be somewhere between the GTX 965m and GTX 970m. The GTX 1060 is basically a little better than the GTX 980m.

If a new Dell XPS 15 does come out with a GTX 1060, then expect the price to increase from the current models. Since laptop with the GTX 1060 carries a premium due to it's performance.

The asus looks good, but I am wondering if based on jaguarsk's answer if maybe I should wait for the dell, they do have the option for an 84 WHr battery, which is much bigger than the Asus, however I am bummed that you have to get the highest model Dell to get the 4k display, I do want 4k/QHD.
