Laptop won't turn on, charger light turns off when plugged into the laptop

Dell N5110.

This is the 4th time this freakin' laptop dies on me. I had a replacement unit after the first one had this problem. And now this is the 3rd time with this unit this is happening. The motherboard dies and when the AC charger is plugged in, the light on the charger dies.

Does anyone know why this is happening? As mentioned this is the 3rd time I will have to replace the motherboard because of this same problem.

Also for the ones with technical knowledge, do you know what components on the motherboard might repair? I really can't afford another motherboard right now and the local technician here is not competent enough.

Are you sure there is nothing that is causing a power surge that is frying the motherboard? Also have you check the charging circuit?

Well, I had the charger checked and I am pretty sure there isn't anything causing a power surge. This is because this isn't very often, first time it happened almost a year after when I bought it new. Second time was after more than a year I received the replacement unit. And the latest is like 8-9 months after I replaced the motherboard.

I still find it very odd. Motherboards shouldn't need replacing that often. Not unless something else is causing the problem or they have really bad components for that devices motherboard.

I have one more laptop (Dell 1545) running on the same power and that doesn't seem bothered at all with it. The only problem is this damn Dell N5110. It has now happened on two separate units, the original one, and the replacement one I got when the original one's motherboard died. The only thing that remained constant between the two was the charger and the power. I have also changed locations but the problem remains the same, dead motherboard.

That is really quite odd. Then again, not shocking. If a component is not up to parr, it will be a problem.

BTW, The charging circuit I am referring to isn't the charger cord. It is a part on the motherboard.

So, I had the laptop repaired and the technician said that some capacitors burned near the charging port. He said it was because the laptop was on charge (charging) while it was off. Is this true? I do remember that I put my laptop to sleep and it went into hibernation mode while the charger was still connected. Are there any implications of having the laptop connected to the charger while it's off?

That should not cause that to happen. It is normal to charge them when they are off. It charges the battery faster, since there is no drain on it. More and more I am thinking there is a flaw in that device.
